you can do to help protect your water from the Atlantic Coast Pipeline? Sign up today to monitor water quality! You will learn how to collect crucial data to
protect the streams in your area.
Attendees will develop the skills necessary to collect and report
important water quality data before, during, and after pipeline construction.
Collecting this data is critical to detecting permit violations and holding
pipeline developers accountable. Due to
a limited number of water testing kits and other resources, volunteers need to
commit to testing water at least once a month throughout the pipeline

will be discussing "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In
the preface to her book Kimmerer writes that she offers "a braid of
stories meant to heal our relationship with the world." This braid is woven from three strands:

Anishnabekwe scientist trying to bring them together in service to what matters

invasive plants are quickly overwhelming many properties by tearing down the
forest canopy and overtaking our native plants at the tree, shrub and/or
groundcover levels. These plants are
also overwhelming the ability of many landowners to understand what invasive
plants exist on their land and what it will take to control them. This session will cover how to identify and
treat some of the most common and destructive invasive plants in this area,
pros and cons of different methods to remove invasive plants, and what methods
can be used in late fall and over the winter.

immersive will be focused on energy self sufficiency and building DC microgrids
like they have at LEF. LEF's integrated
village economy uses high-voltage DC daylight drive motors. The lighting system uses very durable
nickel-iron batteries. You will learn
the basics of electricity, and how to
wire solar electric panels, both high voltage and low voltage systems. You will
learn how to put together battery banks, as well as understand how nickel-iron
batteries work, and how to make them last for decades. You will work on these projects with your own
hands, so you will know how to do it yourself.

Saturday 6/2 Clean the Bay Day

invited to help save the Chesapeake Bay by picking up shoreline, waterway, and
watershed litter during the 30th Annual Clean the Bay Day. Join thousands of fellow Virginians in
removing unhealthy debris from cherished waterways throughout the
Commonwealth. Every year since 1989,
thousands of volunteers of all ages have dedicated their time to clear debris
from Virginia’s urban, suburban, and rural trails, shorelines and
waterways. There are three cleanup
locations this year for the Charlottesville area: Meadow Creek, Riverview Park and Pollock's
